Fix truncated last frames?

Asked by Si Dedman

Is it possible to fix truncated last frames? I have this problem on an mp3 which is causing it to be unable to be copied (input output error - unable to splice file), and it won't auto load into rhythmbox, however it WILL play if manually doubleclicked.
The file also had junk start frames which I removed.
Cheers

If it plays correctly, you could try to reencode it many of the tools available in Ubuntu, some examples: gstreamer, vlc, soundconverter, mplayer, audacity, mpg123...

Thanks Thomas. I ended up running all my MP3s through "MP3 Validator" in windows and have it fix what it could, then cut the junk off the start & end with mp3check & it seems to be working.
Cheers!

[for reference for later readers: mp3check won't sort the truncated frames for you. MP3 Validator, which I used is Windows but also has compilable binaries so should work in Linux, I believe]
