Thunderbird does not send email with attachments

Thunderbird and Kmail gets an error while sending Large attachment i mean more than 1 MB
: connecting to SMTP server failed....this only happens when i am sending a mail with big attachment.

I am able to send mail from my Win xp machines (Outlook) but not in ubuntu 8.10 (Thunderbird)
pls help

also how do i import PST file in thunderbird already installed readpst but it says that new version PST file error opening file
can u suggest any other software for the same

(still new to ubuntu pls consider this)

I tend to keep using the Windows side of my dual-boot for one-off tasks like this until i figure out how to do that in Ubuntu too. It's great that Ubuntu can read the files stored on my Windows partitions :)

Thanks tom for ur suggestion but
The machine has only ubuntu installed on it so want a method to clear these bugs....
i.e. sending mail with large attachments
and importing PST files in thunderbird

Readpst it say it can only convert old PST format before outlook 2003
Outport : requires oulook installed in the system

No, you need to do this on Windows. Then copy the mail files to linux.
