Is there plan to update mozc packages?

Asked by Xidorn Quan

The current version of mozc is 2.26.4577.100, and the version on Ubuntu has been lagging for a year now. During this time, the upstream has added some useful functionalities especially to the configuration (in 4317). It would be appreciated if it can be updated.

Manfred Hampl suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #3037: “no rolling release”.

I'm not expecting it to be updated on the current release, but it seems the next release (22.04) still has the same version. Can we update it there?

Additionally you have to take into account that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work), and also in Debian there is only version 2.26.4220.100

First step for getting a newer version into Ubuntu is an update of the package in Debian.
You may consider creating a related bug report in Debian's bug tracker.
Interesting fact is that there is no notice in Debian yet that a new version would be available upstream, see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/mozc

Thanks for the pointer. I'll create a bug report there.

FYI, reported a bug upstream to ask for a version update: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1002011
