Motion - Heaps of jpegs left

Is there any way to get motion to clean up the thousands of jpegs it uses to create an mpeg file? I have it making videos fine, but it leaves thee target_dir completely overflowing with jpegs, which makes things pretty friggin annoying to say the least.
