When will MonoDevelop 2.8.x be available in repos?

Asked by Guillaume

I've noticed MonoDevelop latest stable release is already on 2.8.6.5 and yet, Ubuntu Software Center is still on 2.6.x. So when will canonical add this newer version of MonoDevelop to their repos?
Because I find it difficult to install different versions of monodevelop on one machine, I installed the 2.8 on a VM and I find it much nicer to work with, compared to 2.6. I wished canonical could update their repos so I could upgrade my real machine without breaking anything;-)
