Support MoinMoin or Markdown on answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu

Asked by Tero Gusto

It says on https://help.launchpad.net/HelpOnFormatting that launchpad.net supports "... using the MoinMoin wiki syntax".

However, as can be seen here, it doesn't:

 Markup
''italic''
'''bold'''
`monospace`
{{{code}}}
__underline__
^super^script
,,sub,,script
~-smaller-~
~+larger+~
--(stroke)--

It would be so great if https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu started supporting MoinMoin, or maybe Markdown, since it seems to have become the standard?

PS. Please move this issue to the correct category, since the current category is about the "moin" package, and not answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu formatting (which I couldn't find).

Thanks for the links, but as I wrote, the issue is about answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu not supporting MoinMoin.

The statement on https://help.launchpad.net/HelpOnFormatting is valid only for wikis, but not for the answer and bug areas. see e.g. the pages https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ and https://dev.launchpad.net/ with formatting features working.

This is not a restriction for Ubuntu only, but the answers.launchpad.net question areas for all projects hosted on Launchpad lack moinmoin (or other) formatting features.

Consequently this question should be asked at the launchpad web hosting services https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad or eventually be converted into a bug report for https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad see also https://dev.launchpad.net/

Thanks for clearing that up, and the useful links you shared @m-hampl, I found the right issue, and added a comment:

"Support Markdown stack overflow style hyperlinks markup"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/391780
