HP 311C mobile broadband modem not recognised

Asked by Simon C Jones

I have dual booted my new HP 311C netbook (with UN2420 modem installed). I want to move completely over to Ubuntu but need this sorting out before I can.

The modem works fine under XP, but cannot be recognised when I boot into Ubuntu. I have tried to follow some of the leads, but had no luck.

There is a setting within the windows HP software that turns the modem off when it shuts down... I have unchecked this (as prompted in some of the other advice), but this hasn't made a difference.

Am I missing some drivers? (how do i find out which drivers I have installed?)

hoping for some assistance,

many thanks in advance,

Which network are you using?

Hi there,

I am using Vodafone prepaid (UK)

I have, since posting, installed the latest version of ixconn (requiring me to uninstall the original version first), but it still doesn't seem to detect the modem.

I have also checked the HP website for drivers/firmware, but that gave no joy either...
