Mixxx just installed on new Ubuntu 64 DT - No Launcher icon!

Asked by Roger

Newbie on Linux just installed Mixxx on new Ubuntu 13.04 64 via Ubuntu Software Centre.
No icon visible on Launcher.
Only other installed software elected is Kdenlive, which appears to work well at first appraisal.
Attempted PP install over the top confirms Mixxx is latest version available.
Any suggestions in "Painting By Numbers" language please?

Did you run:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mixxx
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libportaudio2 mixxx

Thank you.
As stated in question, yes.
Both install paths return that the latest version is installed.
A similar problem appears to have existed some years ago and was fixed.
Have installed and used Mixxx in WinXP previously with great success, but want to use it without the MS 'overhead' because it should work much better in Linux.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you again for your interest.

I repeated line 1 and now get the following:

roger@DV02:~$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mixxx
[sudo] password for roger:
Cannot access PPA (https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~mixxx/+archive/ppa) to get PPA information, please check your internet connection.
roger@DV02:~$

https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~mixxx/+archive/ppa is not accessible in browser either, but I wonder if this is normal because of porting?

Looks like the site is wrong:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mixxx/mixxx
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mixxx

Hi Andrew,
Thank you. Really grateful.
I didn't spot that in 2 hrs of looking.
Can't understand why I didn't notice the syntax the first time around.
Would you like to try to get site corrected, or shall I?
Now correctly installed although I now have a problem with Media NAS (Netgear 12TB RAID) not being accessible in library.
Should I open another Question?.
