Minizip old and broken

Asked by Andrew Bell

The minzip package 1.1 is from 2011 on Ubuntu 22.04. There are much newer versions. This version has an error in mztools.h where the header file extern "C" block is never terminated. This was fixed many years ago according to the minizip github history. Is there some reason not to update?

I suggest you report a bug

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work) and also Debian has only version 1.1 see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/minizip
I suggest that you also create a bug report in the Debian bug tracker to request an update in Debian, and then Ubuntu will follow suit.

Can you help with this problem?
