support for zlib-dev and other packages?

Asked by Simson Garfinkel

Greetings. I maintain open source software that cross-compiles for Windows using mingw. We would like our users to be able to compile on Ubuntu. Currently they cannot because there is not zlib-dev and there is no pthreads in the Ubuntu mingw-w64 build system.

Are there any plans to add these? it is actually quite difficult to build them from sources on mingw, as it requires editing the distribution files.

Yes, that's what I need. How come it doesn't show up when I do an "apt-cache search mingw" ? Is there an additional repository I need to add?

NO, that is not what I need. I need zlib-dev COMPILED WITH THE MINGW CROSS COMPILER. Specifically, there need to be two versions, one that is compiled with mingw32 (for 32-bit windows) and one that is compiled with mingw-w64 (for 64-bit windows).

The ubuntu mingw installation has a LOT of mingw libraries, but it is missing ZLIB, for some inconceivable reason. So much software requires zlib that not having zlib in the system is kind of pointless.
