Update mimms to version 3.2.1 on Hardy

Asked by kleiba

I am using Hardy Heron and was wondering

(a) if there are any plans to update the version of 'mimms' in the repositories from 2.0.1-1 to 3.2.1 which is the current release of 'mimms'

and

(b) if I could offer my help in doing so

Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I can't help with part a) of your question, but if you are interested in supporting packaging, try Googling "Ubuntu MOTU"

Hi again Thomas,

If you look at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mimms - it seems that you'll need to move to Intrepid if you want the lastest version from Ubuntu. You can always try compiling it yourself if you wish to remain on Hardy.

I agree with Tim upgrade to intrepid or jaunty if you want the updated program.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Unfortunately, I can't ugrade to a newer version of Ubuntu, because this is a company machine. I could certainly go ahead and compile the package myself, but I thought for those poor souls who are in a similar situation to me and can not just upgrade, it would be cool if the repositories could be updated.

I will look into becoming a MOTU then...

Cheers,
Thomas

Becoming a motu is hard work why not just ask a motu if they could package it for you.
