Kubuntu on netbook without window decorations and widgets

Asked by Uqbar

I've installed Kubuntu 10.10 on a Acer Aspire One netbook.
The interface has been set up as "netbook" but I have changed it to "desktop" in System Settings-->Workspace-->Type of Workspace (translated from Italian).
While I can see the usual panel and desktop, all applications are missing the windows decorations and widgets so I cannot resize or move the related windows.
How can I have a real KDE desktop?

press ALT+F2 and run:

kwin --replace

Should do it

That works. Thanks.
I think this is a bug in the Kubuntu packaging: if I ask for a desktop environment (as opposed to netbook), I expect it all!
