error: too small lower memory (0x99100>0x8f000)

i am recently install ubuntu 10.10 (dual booting windows 7) in my computer, everything is working fine, but when I try to run Memory test (memtest86+) from the GRUB menu I get this

error: too small lower memory (0x99100 > 0x8f000).
Press any key to continue...

when I press any key I go back to the GRUB menu

Any Idea why I'm unable to run the memory test? how i solve this matter
( I am totally new to Linux)

Yes a software bug must be solved by developer... we must only wait for the solution coming with updates.

if you want to test your RAM memory you can also do a bootable media with the original package coming from the http://www.memtest.org/

Just had the same problem after update my ubuntu 11.10. I was able to log in with previous version of kernel. Then I installed the "startupmanager" package and set the old kernel as default. After that rebooted my PC 2/3 times. Running smooth till now. For detail guide please check the below link:
