Can matplotlib do the simulink? Is it for free?

I was asked when I introduced matplotlib to my university.

Do you have student license?

Yes, matplotlib is free software (free as in "free beer" and in "free speech"). So you don't need to pay any fees to use it. For details see http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/users/license.html .

mathlotlib is not and can not be exactly like Simulink. Where Simulink is an application with a graphical user interface matplotlib is a ploting library for the Python programming language. You need to write some Python code to integrate the plotting into Mathlab or similar programs.

Also it is generally not a good idea to look for a software that is like something else. You should find out your requirements and see if matplotlib meets them.
