When will Matplotlib 0.90.0 be availible for Ubuntu

Asked by Tc2172

I know the version .87 has been availible for quite some time. When will a deb version of 0.9 be made availible?

There are packages for Matplotlib 0.90.0 in Debian experimental already. Now that Debian etch got released I assume they get upload to Debian unstable in the next time. From there Ubuntu will pull them for the next release (after feisty).

So expect Matplotlib 0.90.0 in the next Ubuntu release (after feisty).

Is there a way to add the debian experimental or unstable to my sources list for ubuntu to instal it that way? Or do I have attempt to instal from the source code in order to get the lastest version.

At least you need to rebuild the source package on Ubuntu to get the dependencies right for Ubuntu (you would need to "backport" the package).

You can also install it from source but then you lose the benefits of a packaged version. So I'd try to rebuild the Debian experimental package on Ubuntu.

Can you help with this problem?
