mathomatic package

How to use mathomatic?

I wonder how to use mathomatic. Or is there another package I should install instead? I tried to simplify
 3 / (x^3+3x^2-x-3) - 2 / (x^3-x^2-3x+3) + 4 / (x^3+x^2-3x-3) but it didnt work.

1-> simplify

                       ((5*(x^2)) - 27)
#1: ------------------------------------------------------
    ((x^5) + (3*((x^4) + x)) - (4*(x^3)) - (12*(x^2)) + 9)

1-> quit

I hope this works in your version of Mathomatic, too.
