Need _quick_ setup for masqueraded outgoing mail using mutt + masqmail

Asked by Buz Cory

Default installation of masqmail uses my $HOSTNAME value in the "from ", From: and Reply-to: lines of the header. My actual visible email address looks like "<email address hidden>" and I need to tell masqmail to do this.

I am quite competent to deal w/ editing files, navigating from the command line or w/ a browser, etc. I did a similar thing years ago w/ sendmail but I have forgotten the details. I need to do this ASAP so I can stop using HotMail for outgoing mail.

Everything else I need/want to change about masqmail can wait until I have time to wade through the voluminous documentation :)

Much regards,
== Buz :)

Since nobody saw fit to reply to this I am doing it myself. Eventually there will be a masqmail.rc or whatever on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/buzco.

Whiteboard:

If/when I get masqmail doing what I want, I expect to export my new config setup to my PPA.
