mail list which is member of another maillist doesn't receive emails

Asked by mihail

Hello,
the problem that I am facing is when I put a mail list(<email address hidden>) as a member of another mail list (<email address hidden>). <email address hidden> on other hand does have some email addresses as subscribers, let's say <email address hidden> and <email address hidden> are members of <email address hidden>. If <email address hidden> is the only subscriber of <email address hidden> and I send an email to <email address hidden> nothing happens - there are no emails delivered to the end email addresses - <email address hidden> and <email address hidden>. If I make <email address hidden> and <email address hidden> members of <email address hidden>, then send email to <email address hidden> - <email address hidden> receives the email, but the members of <email address hidden> (<email address hidden> and <email address hidden>) don't receive it. Is this an intended behaviour, or there must be an error somewhere in my configuration?

Thanks.

Note that this answer is for GNU Mailman in general and not specifically for Ubuntu, but see the FAQs at <http://wiki.list.org/x/boA9> and <http://wiki.list.org/x/TIA9>. If these do not answer your question, consider that the probable answer is that the post to embeddedmaillist@domain is probably from a non-member of <email address hidden> and is being discarded by <email address hidden> for that reason.

Can you help with this problem?
