Storage not recognized, yet present in machine output

Asked by ryan

I am trying to use maas to control Dell R430 with a raid controller on /dev/sda and flash array on /dev/sdb. Maas is able to commission, power on, and acquire the box but it shows zero storage, disk, or partitions. Therefore I cannot deploy the machine and I see the storage errors listed below. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks, Ryan

Storage errors:
-Specify a storage device to be able to deploy this node.
-Mount the root '/' filesystem to be able to deploy this node.

Other info:
-maas is a standalone/multi-node implementation on a fresh install.
-Ubuntu 16.04
-maas 2.0.0 installed via ppa
-maas host has one interface in a vlan shared with eth0 of the server, and one interface in a vlan shared with the iDrac of server.
-block-devices.err and lshw.err both list "sudo: unable to resolve host nontubercular-tuan"
-block-devices.out

I have no way to reach the machine and get this info. Maybe that’s my issue? I have added an SSH key in the account/ssh keys section, but I am unable to ssh to ubuntu@<maas-node>… I get a permission denied (public key). Is there anything I should know about the ssh key? I used -t dsa, no passphrase, for the admin user of the maas host. The maas application user name is the same as the host username.

Thanks,

You need to copy the public key from your keypair to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

If you have multiple systems you want to SSH from then either use the same private key on the other system or make a new pair and append the new public key to the authorised_keys file.

I guess I left out the fact that I am trying to use the auto-provision process to add the host. Therefore, MAAS has installed an ephemeral OS and should have pushed an SSH key. I do not know the user/pass, or have access to manually push an SSH key. This is why I could not provide the parted command requested earlier.
