How do I get the trash icon to be put on my panel, and desktop in Lubuntu 12.04?

I go to file manager, and on the left-hand side I see the trash icon, under places but when I try to move it to my desktop, or panel it will not let me move it.

 I don't use Lubuntu, but if it's the same as xfce or gnome classic, then go to settings, desktop, and then check off "show trash icon on desktop, or something to that effect. On my xfce desktop it's Settings Manager, Desktop, then it's under the Icons tab. Hope this helps.
