update during install

What is the usefulness of checking "update during install"? After installation I always have to do updates. A lot of them and with security issues, such as updater. Updater could and should be installed in its latest version during installation.
This problem is at least in ubuntu-mate-16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso

It gets the latest packages installed for the first boot after installing. I always skip it and update or install from the minimal ISO and the OS will be installed using packages on the repositories.
