I would also add that under Feisty (it worked then) I was running a 2.6.22 kernel from Gutsy (for my DVB card). This leads me to believe that it's not a kernel version issue - although it could be the lirc modules.

I was also using the current versions of the Gutsy packages, and obviously I'm running the latest Hardy development packages currently.
