I also have this problem. My hardware is a Dell Inspiron D610 - the built-in IrDA port.

It always worked just fine in Feisty, but I've had no luck at all in Gutsy. I've also tried a fresh install of Hardy Alpha 3, and while the setup is now even easier (it handles setserial for you), I still can't get any reception from the port.
