parallel-usb adapter for Canoscan FB310

Asked by yorkiede

I have a Canoscan FB310 with parallel connexion but my new computer using exclusively Ubuntu only has usb. I would like to buy a parallel-usb adapter but I noticed they come with drivers and these are not for Linux. Must I buy an adapter with linux support or is there a way to buy any adapter and get the drivers I need from a repository?

Are these drivers generic or are the adapter specific?

I am still relatively new to ubuntu, but love it and would appreciate any help. I realise that i may have trouble getting a driver for the scanner once the adapter works, but I will have to cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks

ps - it would seem that of all the canon parallel scanners in the world there is no support for the FB310 so i suppose my question has answered itself and i will have to buy a new scanner

thanks
