Hi!
After a 12hour upgrade what I can report is that it seems that 2 boots are taking place: Ubuntu 9.04,then Ubuntu 9.10.
Otherwise everything 's working fine!
At grub I notice the new kernel 2.6.31,some lines below there is the 'old' 2.6.28.Everything else is related to to 2.6.31 except for that [x. x.28] one.I would even remove it if I knew how...
An earlier upgrade(I'm running 2 ubuntus on ny HD) from Ubuntu 6.0.6 --> Ubuntu 8.04 showed some overlapping from sda? to USB DISK,corrected by partitioning. Something in common with bug #462355.
Salve Ubuntu!

Hi!
After a 12hour upgrade I noticed wthat it seems 2 boots are taking place: Ubuntu 9.04,then Ubuntu 9.10.

'a starting up'...

quickly followed,by another

'starting up'...

Otherwise everything 's working fine!

At grub time I noticed the new kernel 2.6.31,some lines below there is the 'old' 2.6.28.Everything else is related to to 2.6.31 except for that [x. x.28] one.

I would even remove it if I knew how...

An earlier upgrade(I'm running 2 ubuntus on my HD) from Ubuntu 6.0.6 --> Ubuntu 8.04 showed some overlapping from sda(?) to USB DISK,corrected by new partitioning.
Now instead of Dapper splash screen I get the Hardy Heron, straight away, nice effect!
Something in common with bug #462355.

Any idea as to normalize the boot process?

Doesn't seems to be a big issue though.

Salve Ubuntu!

The 2.6.28 kernel is still there as you havent uninstalled it, you can remove it via synaptic / apt-get to harvest ~120Mb of space.

I suggest you log this as a bug. Is it ok in the LiveCD, You may have old configs from Jaunty which are screwing up Karmic (possible but not an absolute answer)

Thanks for the reply!
I did as you say(removed kernel 2.28)through synaptic and saved 96MB. Kernel <2.28 > It is not appearing at GRUB time anymore, only 2.6.31 and memtest remain, although 2 starttingup messages still occurs in very short intervals, then it goes normally.
Ok,I don't know much but I think it's not a big deal, I repeat:those intervals are negligible, and might disappear just by using the system! Just think what an upgrade of 10,12hrs mean.
By the way I'll do the same where the other Ubuntu partition
is,kernel 2.6.15
Again thanks
