Details, please, which Ubuntu release, which version of the kernel are you running?

According to https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2024-21823 there is already a solution for all supported releases with linux-realtime.
(and rather no supported combination with linux-raspi-realtime and linux-intel-iot-realtime)

Following up...
I see no solution for the realtime kernel I posted above on the Bug #2051560 page. Hence, the reason I am asking if that kernel is being worked on to include the fix for the perf Python module.
We're seeing errors in our environment when attempting to apply tuned profile.

I do not find any combination of Ubuntu 24.04 with the 6.8.1-1011-realtime kernel in the Ubuntu repositories.
What are the exact names and versions of the kernel packages and from which source did you install them?

What output do you receive for the commands
uname -a
lsb_release -crid
apt policy linux-image-6.8.1-1011-realtime

If you are sure that the errors that you see on your system are caused by CVE-2024-21823 and if you are running a genuine Ubuntu kernel, then the best step forward probably is creating a bug report against the realtime kernel source package.

Realtime kernel was installed via Ubuntu Pro subscription and its repositories.

Some information below omitted for security reasons...

uname -a:

Linux 6.8.1-1011-realtime #11-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_RT Tue Oct 8 17:19:16 UTC 2024 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
-----------------------

lsb_release -crid:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Release: 24.04
Codename: noble

-----------------------

apt policy linux-image-6.8.1-1011-realtime:

linux-image-6.8.1-1011-realtime:
  Installed: 6.8.1-1011.11
  Candidate: 6.8.1-1011.11
  Version table:
 *** 6.8.1-1011.11 500
        500 https://esm.ubuntu.com/realtime/ubuntu noble/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

-----------------------

Here is the error I am seeing in the tuned log that aligns with Bug #2051560:

ERROR tuned.units.manager: WARNING: python perf module not found for kernel 6.8.1-1011-realtime

Sorry, my fault, I did not check for availability in the Ubuntu Pro repositories.

I think it makes most sense to create a bug report. Add as much information as possibile, e.g. a reference to the other bug report (stating that it does not cover the realtime kernel), etc.

Can you help with this problem?
