how to change console font

Asked by Rolf Leggewie

The Ubuntu mainline kernels (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds) have a nice small font on the console during bootup. I'd like to have that for the normal Ubuntu kernels as well. I wonder to enable that. I'm running karmic with the latest released kernel.

Err, i am not sure but try opeing a terminal console
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal#Starting%20a%20Terminal

Go up to the menu's at the top of the console and click

Edit - Profile Preferences

then in the "General" tab UNtick the "Use the system fixed width font" and then the previously greyed-out drop-down list should let you choose whichever font is available on your system. I don't know if that also affects the boot-up fonts, please let us know :)

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
