I cant use the visual effects my laptop is VIA CHROME 9 HC

Can anyone show me step by step how to use the visual effects. The hardware driver is not reading my my laptop card, I believe because my laptop is VIA CHROME 9 HC. Is there anyway how to change this? if so can you step by step me please , Im new to this, thanks

Most likely, this question would be more appropriately placed in one of the X packages.

i have same problem with VIA Chrome9 HC IGP driver,, I think this driver not yet support on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic,,,

and where is X packages? I can't find it... sorry i'm new...

The X packages are already installed on your computer :) if compiz
isn't supported that means your X drivers aren't native, nothing to
worry, we are working hard so as to provide drivers for all
architectures, and you can wait for some time and then enable compiz.
You can also look for X packages in the synaptic package installer
