Memory leaks back in 5.4.0-109 kernel

Asked by dhdurgee@verizon.net

A few days ago I updated to the 109 kernel. After one day I went back to the 107 kernel. In that one day cinnamon restarted seven times due to memory issues. It had only restarted once since the 107 kernel was installed. So please look into why the 109 kernel has memory issues that had been corrected in 107.

This is a follow-up to an earlier question:

I would be interested to know how such memory leak regressions can be avoided in the future.

Linux Mint is not supported here.

What you can do is installing an Ubuntu system, checking whether the problem is also seen there and then creating a bug report with diagnostic information from the Ubuntu system.

The diff between the 107 and 109 versions is https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/linux_5.4.0-107.121_5.4.0-109.123.diff.gz
Good luck in trying to identify the modification that may have caused the memory issues.

Can you help with this problem?
