how do I revert back to 20 04 from 21 10, big mistake upgrade

need to know what to do to go back to focal 20 04 from disastrously slow 21 10 imp indri , without having to backup home / etc .. the 21 10 upgrade just loaded from web right overtop of 20 04 . so is there just as easy of a method to revert back , removing 21 10? and then having a normal running system again , I can not wait 30 seconds between selections dell lattitude 6420 XFR core i-5 , was plenty fast before the upgrade to 21 10 indri

If you want to roll back you will need to wipe the install off and do a clean install of 20.04. You can restore your user data from your backups. You cannot just roll back in the standing install. It isn't possible.
