If you report a bug stating the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later

This package is currently in the -proposed repository, and users are asked to test it. See Bug #1666421
Only after a certain amount of positive feedback messages it will be transferred to the updates (and/or security) repositories.

If you want to have it now, enable the xenial-proposed repository in your package management settings, and you should be able to install it. (General recommendation is not to have the -proposed repositories permanently enabled.)
