"Settings>Sound>Sound Effects" only shows "default" as possible alert sound

"Settings>Sound>Sound Effects" only shows "default" as possible alert sound, image below:

I have tried to restore corrupted files and trigger a cache rebuild using:

dpkg-query -S /usr/share/sounds | cut -d: -f1 | tr -d , | xargs sudo apt-get install --reinstall

Still no change. How can I change such alert sound ?

Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
