Netgear USB WIFI adapter driver won't run on Ubuntu.

Asked by Mike StJean

I bought a Netgear USB WIFI adapter for my Dell computer which runs Ubuntu. Ubuntu will not run the WIFI adapter driver; it says it can't find the program. Is there a way to get it to run or is there another brand of WIFI adapter which will run on Ubuntu? Thanks.

What is the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsusb; lsb_release -a; uname -a

Thanks.

There are super Linux friendly USB adaptors. If you read reviews on Amazon there will be users reporting success with Linux.
E.g
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANEWISH-433Mbps-Wireless-Supports-10-4-10-11-4/dp/B01G77I46G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479215603&sr=8-1&keywords=ubuntu+wifi+usb

You may also find that companies pre-installing Linux on their systems will sell Linux compliant USB WiFi.
