Couldn't use the Web to find out......

Hold SHIFT at boot, use cursors to select older kernel and ENTER to select.

I have a similar problem after updating to the most recent kernel (4.2.0.30). My Lubuntu install, on a VMWare VM, boots up to the point where the X server should start (I momentarily see the console prompt), but then gets stuck with a black screen. I have tried switching virtual terminal using Ctrl-Alt-Space (to escape the VMWare Ctrl-Alt capture); Ctrl-Alt-Fx and killing the X session with Ctrl-Alt-Space; Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, but neither have any effect. Reverting to 4.2.0.27 from the boot menu works fine.

Any ideas?
