AUFS support not present in mainline kernel 4.* releases

Hi,

I've tried all kernels from the 4.* branch and I couldn't find any that supports AUFS driver.
This driver is needed for Docker to work by default on Ubuntu.
Is there something that I'm missing or that can be configured so that the kernels support it? or does one need to recompile the kernel manually to get it enabled again?

I suggest you contact the maintenance of the mainline kernel PPA and report the issue
