Hibernation started before shutdown

Asked by whenselm on 2012-12-26

I want to shutdown my HP 2730p laptop. I press power button and confirm to shutdown. If I close the lid too fast (before the machine is down), the machine goes to hibernation instead of shutdown. In this case resume will fail at next boot up (black screen)
So it seems to be a race condition : confirming shutdown and triggering hibernation when closing the lid afterwards ...
Ubuntu12.04
Hp2730p

Any ideas?

Yes , is not exactly Hibernation (to disk) , but suspend to RAM.

You can change that from Power Settings..

Change the "When lid close : Suspend" to "When lid close : Do nothing" and see if you are OK , now.

Thanks

Well,
suspend is a nice thing :-).
Just to mention that you cannot do both at once: shutdown and close the lid.

I suggest you report a bug
