Ubuntu support for Intel E5-4600 CPU.

Asked by Paul Lue

I am trying to run Ubuntu 10.04 (base kernel 2.6.32) to get Turbo mode enabled but it is not supoprted on the 4-socket Sandy Bridge CPU series E5-4600. I found the base kernel 2.6.38 that comes with Ubuntu 11.04 was able to engage Turbo Mode, however later kernel levels 3.x distributed with Ubuntu 12.04 does not support Turbo Mode.

Have you tried 12.10. 11.04 is EOL and Lucid Desktop has about 6 months support left.

Thanks, but we need to be on a OS level that has LTS.

Then install 12.04, it is LTS.

Conversely 11.04 wasn't LTS.....

Can you help with this problem?
