Free Diskspace on a partition of 33GB.
hi,
i have ubuntu installed with windows 7 on a 33G partition for ubuntu. i am trying to upgrade to 12.04 from 11.10 and i am getting Not enough space on /. current space is 1.3G on /.
when i try to find where the rest of the space has gone, i have 17G allocated to /hosts of which 11G have been used. pls see the snapshot below
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/loop0 9.4G 7.7G 1.3G 86% /
udev 2.9G 4.0K 2.9G 1% /dev
tmpfs 1.2G 888K 1.2G 1% /run
none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock
none 2.9G 196K 2.9G 1% /run/shm
/dev/sda6 17G 11G 6.5G 62% /host
i changed directory for /hosts and i am not able to find what is occupying space.
du -h of /hosts displays the following
20K ./System Volume Information
0 ./ubuntu/
0 ./ubuntu/disks/boot
9.8G ./ubuntu/disks
699M ./ubuntu/install
173K ./ubuntu/winboot
11G ./ubuntu
11G .
and du -h of ./ubuntu displays as follows
20K ./System Volume Information
0 ./ubuntu/
0 ./ubuntu/disks/boot
9.8G ./ubuntu/disks
699M ./ubuntu/install
173K ./ubuntu/winboot
11G ./ubuntu
11G .
Request you to help in identifying where the space is.
