Any traditional location for private kernel modules ?

Asked by Piyanai Saowarattitada

Is there some sort of kernel module style guide that describes where kernel modules (privately built) and its source code should go for Ubuntu ?

Any pointer would be appreciated.

- On Oneiric, I see /lib/modules/3.0.0-XX-generic/kernel with the following sub-directories
# ls -1
arch
crypto
drivers
fs
lib
net
sound
ubuntu

If I have, say, a home-grown network .ko modules, should I place it under "net" subdir ?

net/super-net/server.ko

Make sense ?

Thanks.
Piyanai

Thanks for the response Andrew.

I was not clear. What I was looking for is some guide lines/Ubuntu kernel style guide, if exist, from Ubuntu community around where homegrown/organic kernel modules should reside on an installed system.

I will take it then that there are no such guide lines and we can pretty much place those modules where we want...

Can you help with this problem?
