Cursor frozen

I have just installed ubuntu 11.10 and worked it a couple of times..The cursor froze while I was working on it and doesn't wanna move, even after re-booting..I just use ubuntu for the OS and not good at coding side of tings. So someone please help me out with this....

Is the RAM healthy?
Is the system a laptop or desktop?
Are you using a USB/PS2 mouse?

yup RAMS good...its a dual boot and Win 7 works fine....Laptop with touchpad....I'm using the touchpad.....

Not told us the make and model of the system....
I suggest you run a quick memtest (10 mins is ok) from the memtest in Grub.
