Why doesn't Ubuntu 10.04 updates the kernel to 3.0
Asked by

The kernel on my Ubuntu 10.04 is
vmlinuz-
which is the latest version available for the 2.6.32 branch.
However, there are also packages like
linux-
but doing an update with "apt-get update" doesn't update the kernel to the latest version.
Why does that happen ? Is it because the 2.6.32 kernel is the only officially supported one on Ubuntu 10.04 ?
Let me know if it's a good idea to install linux 3.0 manually or I should wait for the update system to install it.
