Oneiric unstable: cant get ubuntu to boot up

hi i have 11.04 and wanted to try 11.10 followed directives and said yes then installed, after a while the upgrade said cant install so i stopped . and when went to start my computer the next day it would not boot up, it is showing in the boot up cycle that 11.10 is installed, i have installed 10.10 along side of this to get access to my files , can i some how try and fix the old one from here.

You can try to "chroot" into your broken system from your working system.

When you have set up the chroot environment, run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, etc to fix the broken upgrade process.
