initramfs comes- ubuntu studio doesnt boot

Asked by vfmla

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this relates to an already submitted and solved problem. One reason that I am writing here is that I have just recently installed Ubuntu Studio, and the problem came out in a strange way.

I had LMMS (Linux Multimedia Studio) running on PC, and I was using the keyboard as synthesizer. When I returned to Firefox for an instant, I saw that my keyboard was altered; all over it the letters had turned to one-digit numbers. I found no way to return to the normal keyboard, so I could only restart the computer.

from then on I have been receiving the "initramfs" line coming after spitting out of rapid lines and with the same texts at the end as other users reported.

I had installed Ubuntu Studio yesterday, and everything seemed all right until this afternoon.

is it a random failure that requires only repeated trials? do I need to run a particular command?

thank you heaps for your support!!

enjoy your summer!

this problem was solved, too, again, thanks to ubuntu forums!!

because I was on another terminal while noting the solution, I don't have the solution's link with me now, but I will post it here right away..

I solved the problem as advised: by booting from a live cd and mounting the hard drive. then accessing a couple of folders there. and finally rebooting.
at reboot I was asked if I wanted to repair a tmp file or folder, I did so, and the reboot was completed with everything back.

strange thing is, both my computers changed their keyboard layout "while" I was trying to install itunes. the letter keys turned to dead keys (numbers)...with one of the computers the situation subsequently evolved to above problem upon restart..
with the other computer the keyboard confusion goes on..I hope to find a solution here or in ubuntu forums :)

I'd be interested to hear your comments, or if you have had this kind of experience..

best greetings!
