Which smartphone is more suitable for linux users?

Asked by Juan Montoya

Phones that take photos, chat and browse the web are cool, but a linux user may expect other stuff, like ubuntu one file sync and music streaming, a bash shell, ssh, running python scripts and having his/her phone with software that works on Ubuntu or other linux distro.

So, if the device starts with an 'i' that's an Apple thing and there will be no love for Ubuntu stuff, right?
And if it's a Blackberry all you can do is use your phone as a flash drive or backup its data with barrybackup.

So, which type of phone (not a particular model) would you recommend to an Ubuntu user?

phones that run off android might be what you're looking for. android is based on linux (ubuntu if i'm not mistaken).

Can you help with this problem?
