New ubuntu 11.04 works poorly

Asked by AndreyPutilov

Hello
I don`t know what`s happened, but new Ubuntu 11.04 is completely useless. I log in to Ubuntu classic, because this new desktop offers me things that I don`t want, but:

* Sometimes system begins to run very slowly for ten minutes, and memory usage is less then 46% (I have 1GB memory)
* I need to wait for three minutes to break the screensaver mode when my screen is locked. I move a mouse, and Ubuntu asks me for password in three minutes
* Sometimes everything disappears and I see some messages, white on black, and then the login screen. When I log in I can find no document saved (and also no message that something is wrong)
* Libreoffice in some cases adds an empty page at the beginning of a document, and neither undo helps
* 90% of time Skype is not present in a tray area while it is running, and I see some messages that contacts are online or offline
* It is very hard to find a place where drug&drop works. With every new release I find less and less clicks that Ubuntu understands. In this 11.04 release it seems to be more stupid than Windows.
* Desktop effects disappeared, and disappeared the whole tab with setup of it.
* Now new feature: Firefox shows only one tab while I have more. Though, I can jump to the next tab by Alt+Tab.

As a result, the system is completely useless, I have no possibility to work, the only thing I can do is to download another Linux. I am not sure if Ubuntu users are looking forward to feeling such an opportunity. What`s wrong?

Forgot to add that Banshee shows no library after start, you should do some click, and library appears. Ones it played a song and no sound was made. It was a bug, because settings were right (other applications were ok), reboot helped.

I had some of those problems, and reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10. Now it works well again.

One more thing I am not satisfied with: when a notebook has a low battery earlier releases used to ask me if to go asleep or cancel, now the system simply goes asleep with no choice.

If you upgraded from update-manager, install from a USB key with Natty and choose "upgrade". It should solve some issues. Else you can revert to 10.10. For slowness, type Ctrl+Alt+F1, log in and type "top". Look at which process take more of CPU.

This release is a huge dissapointment. It's the most worthless OS known to man!
And the sad thing is that Mark Shuttleworth is too Narcissistic to admit that it's a failure.
They won't fix anything. The ShuttleBacon bandwagon will just keep running amuck.
