dell studio 1749 sd reader not working any more

Asked by Oliver Marks

I have upgraded to 11.04 but now my sd card reader does not detect sd cards can anyone suggest anything to try and get it working again, lspci returns the below info.

SD Host controller: O2 Micro, Inc. Device 8120 (rev 01)
14:00.1 0805: 1217:8120 (rev 01)

I think this should be reported as a bug but i am not sure what to report it against ubuntu, linux the device driver if anyone can suggest where i will happily report the issue, also tried a second identical laptop and different cards to make sure but seems its a regression in 11.04 ?

Try:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/sd.conf

add this line:
options sdhci debug_quirks=0x40

and reboot, may help. Source:

ok run:

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/sd.conf

if you boot with a card in the reader, does it work?

no it does not work if the card is in the reader at boot time.

I suggest you log a regression bug
