This is very irritating I'm sure, but we need more info to help you, like your dmesg log and so on. :)

I am having the same issue, although I don't think mine is occurring quite as frequently as described by the OP. I have been using 10.10 x64 since December 2010 and have only experienced these hangs/lockups 4 or 5 times now. Each time, it seems that the entire system freezes completely. Even the Num Lock and/or Caps Lock keys do not toggle the indicator lights on the keyboard.

I'm basically running Ubuntu 10.10 x64 as my host OS and then using Oracle VirtualBox 4.0.6 to host a couple of Windows 7 VMs. I don't really use Ubuntu for much at all, so other than VirtualBox, there isn't much else running. I'm not sure if the hang only occurs when VB is running because I am always running VB.

Anyway, I just came in this morning and found that my system had locked up sometime between this morning and last night. I had a previous lock up last Monday morning, system locking up sometime over the weekend.

I have disabled the BIOS C states on my processor.

I see in the previous post that you are asking for dmesg logs. I can provide mine. Should I just post them in the message here? Or is there a way to attach files to the thread?

Also... these lockup/hangs typically occur when I'm away from the computer. Only once did it happen while I was actually using the computer. I have both the Gnome screensaver and the xscreensaver. I'm not sure if the two are conflicting with one another but I would think if they were, the problem would be much more prevalent.

I have the same problem 64bit 10.10
2.6.35-29-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 15 17:12:35 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Nothing in the logs to indicate a problem, but the system becomes unusable

Can you help with this problem?
