Failed to get tcobase address

Asked by Christopher

I get the subject message on every boot in Natty. I have a Lenovo Z565 with an ATI Radeon HD 4200 sound card.

I have no idea what it might be affecting, as the sound seems to be normal. I've run an audio test and it seems OK. I don't want to report a bug, as it isn't 'bugging' anything except my curiosity.

Can you reboot, login and run:

dmesg > ~/t.txt; gedit ~/t.txt; rm ~/t.txt

What is output? (When you close the file, it will be deleted for tidiness)

After today's updates the boot message has changed, but flashes so quickly that I can't quite make it out. Something to do with tco, mmio and address.

I still can't figure out what, if anything it affects as I haven't noticed anything amiss since fglrx was fixed.

I've tried 10 times to post the result of dmesg > ~/t.txt; gedit ~/t.txt; rm ~/t.txt but every time it has timed out.

ok then run:

sudo apt-get -y install pastebinit; clear; dmesg | pastebinit

what is the URL generated? Are you running the desktop OS?

It will have to wait until later. I work in Maverick and test Natty in my free time, but I have a fair bit of work to do before I can play.

I'm running the classic desktop in Natty. Unity slows me down to much and reminds me of Windows 7 in that regard.

[ 12.105957] SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xb8fe00 already in use

That's the message that flashes before continuing to boot. It also seems to be covered in Bug #740011.

Can you help with this problem?
