[USB keyboard] Wireless Trust DS3400 keyboard doesn't work Ubuntu 11.04 beta 1

Asked by Axel Bernadinis

Hello,
I tried on a live CD Ubuntu 11.04 beta 1 on a laptop and when I try typing with my Trust DS3400 wireless keyboard the cursor just blinks quickly and I can't type anything. If I go to tty1 it works fine. If I unplug the wireless adapter and I use the laptop's keyboard everything works fine. I am currently using Xubuntu 9.10 and I have no such problems. By the way, I got this problem also when I tried Ubuntu 9.10 and Ubuntu 10.04 (always on a live CD).
Hope you can help me.

It is an American Megatrends. Yes I can use my keyboard to select OS and also to go around in the BIOS. And as I said it works fine on Xubuntu 9.10.

http://www.ami.com/support/downloaddoc.cfm?DLFile=support/doc/MAN-EZP-80.pdf&FileID=678 page 27 (35th) Legacy USB Support but I presume it's not the issue. Sorry, but I work mainly under Grub issues, and it seems to be a kernel issue. You could raise a bug against "linux".

I created a bug report and hope it will be solved because I don't really need a solution right now it is just that I don't want to have this problem when the stable release comes out.
Thank you so much anyways.

I tried the final release and it doesn't work, it works on Xubuntu 11.04. It also works in Linux Mint 9 Xfce (based on Ubuntu 10.04) so it's like it only works on Xfce, but I don't want to be dependent on Xfce only. Why can't it work on Ubuntu?!?!?

Could you check differences between two versions:
   linux kernel (uname -a)
   used graphic driver
and eventually xserver version

Which two versions? How do I find graphic driver? (do you mean radeon?) For the X server version is this it? This is from Xubuntu 9.10.

So I was playing around with Xubuntu trying to replace thunar with nautilus and I found out that when I replaced the file in /usr/bin xfdesktop with nautilus so that nautilus would run instead of xfdesktop

Re: Replace Thunar with Nautilus
i didn't think it would be that easy. i do have a plan b, but it may screw you later if those programs get up dated, just letting you know.
so plan b, would be to replace xfdesktop with a link to nautilus.

in a terminal:

sudo mv /usr/bin/xfdesktop /usr/bin/xfdesktop-off
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/nautilus /usr/bin/xfdesktop

that's it, just remove your startup stuff, logout and back in and hopefully it will be using nautilus.

When I did this the keyboard stopped working.

Can you help with this problem?
