What is happening to my PC, is it trying to crash?

Asked by Steven D. Shown

Ever so often, for no apparent reason that I can see, my screen goes fully to black and white and my PC becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, then the color comes back to normal and the PC starts responding again. This happens every day to every other day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Does this mean that my computer is trying to crash? What is happening to it? Could it be something wrong with some part of my hardware?

sounds more like your graphics card is on its last legs.

Thank you. I installed clamav and tested for virus's, but it said that I had 10 viruses detected, but they were all on my windows system, and my virus protection on windows says I have no viruses. The only thing I can figure is that clamav is seeing my windows files as possible virus. Other than that, I will try a new graphics card, as I know my onboard graphics that I am using now are not of that great quality. Hopefully that will solve this issue. It's not a serious problem, but it does get annoying after a while. I have noticed that it only does that when the processor is excessively busy, such as when I am loading some web pages, etc.
